Canadian Microbiome Initiative 2: Projects and Highlights

We are in an exciting era of microbiome research. We have moved past the initial hurdles (such as the lack of technologies, high cost, and daunting task of studying the trillions of microbes found in just a single body) and are building on the knowledge and foundations laid by pioneers in this field to take microbiome science to the next level. Canadian researchers are getting to the stage where they are making breakthrough discoveries about the causal links between the microbiome and human disease—with the goal of improving health for all.

The CIHR Canadian Microbiome Initiative 2 funded a research core ($3.4M) and seven research teams ($2M each) across Canada. Read more about their work:
