Fall 2024 Project Grant competition results – increased investment
Message from the President
January 30, 2025
Dear colleagues,
As CIHR releases the results of the Fall 2024 Project Grant competition, I am pleased to share with you that the Budget 2024 investments increased the total amount of funding in this competition from $325M to $411M. As a result of this additional funding, CIHR was able to support 453 grants in this competition. This represents an increase of 98 above what was planned. I am also happy to report that the amount available in each Project Grant competition is anticipated to remain similar to this figure going forward.
This increase in funding is a direct result of the 2024 Federal Budget that included significant investments in research, including additional funding for CIHR.
Canada’s health researchers are full of novel ideas to better understand diseases as well as improve prosperity, health and well-being. Our support of curiosity-driven research through CIHR’s Project Grant competition helps bring those ideas to life.
On behalf of CIHR, I wish to congratulate the funding recipients in this recent competition and wish them the very best as they pursue their promising research.
Sincerely,
Dr. Paul Hébert
President
